Dark Mirror is a video installation by Mexican artist Carlos Amorales, showing at the Irish Museum of Modern Art from 27/02/2008 to 11/05/2008.
There is a strange hypnotic quality of the piano performance which adds to
the apocalyptic scenes of doom portrayed by animated video. The animation
is based on the graphic work of Andre Pahl. Its a double projection with the
screen suspended in a central position on the upper landing of the IMMA.
One side shows the animation and the other side shows a video of the reflection
of the pianist in the polished grand piano, as he plays the score. Worth a look.
